Backpack, check.  bug spray, check.  sunscreen, check.  sneakers, check. waxing treatment??
Yes, it’s true, tweens and teens are stopping by the salon to get their legs and underarms waxed before summer camp.  Should we let kids be kids, have we gone too far?  Some moms say it helps relieve their daughter’s insecurities.  What do you think? Would you let your daughter get waxed before camp? if so at what age?

  1. Whoooo, this is where I have to say let little girls be little girls. At age
16 ok, but we are forcing our children to grow up to soon, or in some cases “letting” them grow up too soon. Not me, until they are 16 they are little children to me, 16-18 minimal liberties. I feel by letting our daughters act like adults will invite an adult to befriend them in some way. I’ve seen it happen and it can get scary for the parents. Its not all sexual, sometimes it is parties or other things. I’m 35 with 2 children and its a lot different time from went I was a kid. I wish things were simple like that for my kids…….I have to try and make these times that simple for their sake.

  2. I started shaving when I was 10. This was in the 90′s.
What’s the difference between shaving and waxing? Nothing, it’s hair removal either way.

Girls have been shaving their legs at like 10 or 11 for over a decade now.
If your 14 year old shaves, which they should by that old, then what’s the big deal if they wax their legs before summer camp. It’ll take them less time in the shower and more time to go have fun.

Getting rid of hair isn’t something that makes you older, some people just don’t like hair, if your 10 year old has super hairy legs and wants to shave because SHE is starting to feel self conscious about it then more power to her.
