How far would you go to give your child an advantage in sports? Sure games are emotional, especially championships, but a ‘Hockey Dad‘ from Boston takes things way too far during his daughter’s playoff hockey game. During the third quarter when the score was tied 1-1, Joseph Cordes took a laser pointer and shined it in the eyes of the opposing team’s goalie and players. He was eventually ejected from the game, but that team went on to loose and everyone feels they the distraction cost them the win. As a result , he has been banned from all sports events at the high school and charged with Disturbing the Peace. What do you think about this, was the punishment too harsh? too lenient? What is the craziest thing you have experienced or heard a parent do to give their kids an edge in sports?

I have seen this type of crazy behavior too much on the fields.

What an idiot. I think the punishment was fair, he is just lucky none of those players are claiming retina damage and suing him for damages.

Horrific! He should have been punished and I’m glad he was removed….totally unfair that they lost because of him.

This is just so wrong on so many levels. However, having just started with baseball this year, I can see the way some of these parents behave and well it’s horrific. Putting their children down, snickering about the other kids on the opposing team and yes these kids are only 5!!!

I think that it is sick that parents would go this far to ensure their child’s team wins a game. It’s a GAME!! Modeling and teaching good sportsmanship is one of the most important lessons we can teach our children. I am sorry that this parent didn’t realize what a detriment they were doing to their child when they engaged in this ridiculous behavior.
